Luck, Chances, Destinies and Fates

Have you ever thought of what makes things happen? What causes a turn of event occurs? What makes the next throw of dice a certain number? When a certain event occurs (especially bad ones), that you think you have no control over it, does it occur simply because of luck? Do you think it happens by chance? Destiny? Fate, maybe?

I believe it is Fated (yes, I intentionally capitalize the F to show God’s Almighty role in it).

The world is created by certain rules that makes the it runs orderly (and given enough knowledge, predictably) like a clock. Laws of Physics operates behind it like gears and shafts in a clockwork and if God wills it, He can tweak the gear, or even mess with it once in a while.

A glass, for an example will break, given the force that acts on it exceeds the strength of the material. When a a glass is dropped from the height where it will touch the floor at exactly the same amount of force required to break the glass, there are chances it will break, or not. Why is it called chances? Because we lack the information [such as at what exact height (to the infinite number of decimal) does the glass dropped, at what angle it touches the floor, how did the stress from the shock spread through the glass etc etc] to determine wether it will break or not. Hence, given just enough information and discarding others, we’ll take it will break at certain height with certain chances.

There’s more at work. Why did you dropped it that way? what led you to that condition? how was the surrounding condition and what caused it that way? Every action is a reaction, hence everything in the world is a chain reaction. And if we continue to follow through the history of these chain reactions, it will come to the… big bang; the very start of the universe.

Now, two ways to take this discussion further. And i chose to have there’s a Creator that creates the universe through big bang. When he says ‘Be!’ and so it be. When the chain reaction starts, there’s no way to stop, to change or in anyway mess around what has happened, what is happening and what will happen because the world works with certain rule that runs like a clock. Unless the Creator of the rule want to mess with the rule for a while, He is the only one Who has the Power to mess with it.

Then, there comes another question. What about Freewill? Do you really think you have a free will? Don’t you think you make your decisions based on your experience. Even if you don’t make your decisions based on experience, don’t you think you chose to  because of your experience (i know it’s like contradicting but read carefully and you will understand)? And what determines what were you experiencing? Even what you chose to take in and what to leave out from my writing is based on your frame of reference, which again depends on your experiences. Your upbringing is one of your major influence in experience, and how your parents brought you up depends on his experience. Hence the chain of cause and effect goes again. Do you still think you have a freewill? You perceived everything you do to be a choice, but your choice is already made up by your experience.

Hence, doesn’t everything in the world is Fated?
